First Week Back in West Yorkshire teaching Computing PPA Cover

This past week and a half I have been back teaching in schools for our specialised iMedia PPA cover using iPads to cover the curriculum for lessons such as ICT, Media and Music. During the summer we set up a new iPad system so that we can control the iPads remotely and set up certain restrictions for the students. Safe to say this new system works a treat. Every single iPad across the board has the exact same layout which makes instructing the students much easier. Using them in practice has proved simple and efficient.

It was great to see familiar faces in the schools I have taught at previously. At Lydgate Primary School the school have taken their PPA Cover. For example if the students did iJam Level 1 last year, which involves creating their own full song in any genre, they will now move onto iJam Level 2 which includes covering the genre of dance music. These students have to use drum machines and will continue to use keyboards and synthesisers all within the iPad to create their chosen genre of dance music.

The return to Rothwell C of E School has been a strange but joyous occasion as I haven’t covered PPA there for two academic years. It was a great surprise to see that most of the children still remember me and welcomed me with open arms. As with Lydgate, Rothwell students are also progressing to the next Levels in our specialised iMedia PPA cover.

Of course, no new school year is complete without meeting new students like the new year 3s at Lydgate who have had a fantastic start to the year. I look forward to teaching them iMedia this year.
