St Columba’s Junior Jam holiday club 2019
For the past week, Junior Jam has been delivering their summer holiday club for St Columba's Catholic School in Bradford. Aside from the intense and competitive daily games of dodgeball, the children also took part in multi-sports such as cricket and iPad media sessions. For the latter, the children participated in creating music, magazines, and movie trailers (a particular favourite of the younger children), whereas the older children greatly enjoyed being shown different aspects of Crime Scene Investigation - including fingerprinting, creating mugshots, taking and listening to witness statements, computer hacking, and then using these skills to solve a "real" case.
The children were provided with a free lunch every day, consisting of sandwiches with alternate fillings, 1 portion of Fruit or Veg, a yoghurt, and a snack. This coincided with the focus on healthy eating and living, encapsulated in a final presentation exploring different types of food and exercise, delivered by the sports coach, Danny. There was a good understanding shown afterwards when asked what food they would choose if trying to eat healthily, and which fun activities they could do that could count as exercise.
