About us

PPA Cover Teachers supply qualified class teachers to schools to cover PPA time and other fixed term absences such as maternity cover. We supply teachers with QTS and NQT status for primary schools and secondary schools nationwide. PPA Cover Teachers is part of Junior Jam and has worked with schools nationally delivering PPA Cover for 13 years. During this time, we have developed our delivery and built relationships with 1,000 schools across the UK who have benefited from the knowledge and dependability of our organisation.

The secret behind our success is our expert, hard-working, dedicated teachers. Our teachers are skilled in their subject areas, are professional and have a fantastic attitude towards their work. Their desire to provide excellence for schools and their pupils is what ensures our teachers maintain and exceed the high standards that have already been set.

The world of education is an exciting area in which to work, yet it is ever-changing, so we will continue to work to ensure that we remain at the cutting edge of education. We are very proud of where we are today, and excited about where we are headed.

What we do

PPA Cover Teachers supply qualified teachers to primary and secondary schools to cover PPA time and other fixed term absences such as maternity cover.
We take the time to understand each individual school, their staff, their pupils and their values so that we can provide them with their perfect teacher. As we have placed so many teachers in such a wide range of schools nationally over the years, we ensure that we know what our schools are looking for, and we will settle for nothing less than exactly that. Our standards are extremely high and we will never compromise on quality.
With our service there are 2 options, recruitment and supply.

Recruitment: Here we will find you the right employee to join your school. They will be part of your staff and be your employee. We charge a fee for this.
Supply: With this option, we supply a Qualified Teacher for the specific times and days of the week you require, for the fixed period you state. The teacher is our employee and is contracted by us. We charge you a fee for the time you have booked that teacher for.

Our teachers enjoy excellent career opportunities and have access to outstanding training and resources. We work together as a team, providing our teachers with a high level of support. Our senior managers conduct regular appraisals of our teachers so that we can be sure that we are always providing a quality service.

How we work

We want to find the best staff member for your school, therefore we start by completing a job and person specification as well as information about the school. Whilst we offer a Recruitment and Supply Service, the recruitment process is similar for both as we follow the Safer Recruitment Policy Guidelines.
Safeguarding is extremely important to us and therefore we follow the guidance within the DfE's Keeping Children Safe in Education. Our recruitment procedure covers the following elements:-

  • Suitability checks via application forms and CVs
  • Applicant information packs which includes a briefing on your school and the role
  • Interviews
  • Comprehensive identity verification
  • Right to work checks
  • Thorough professional referencing
  • Barred List Check
  • DBS Enhanced checks
  • Staff Disqualification Declarations
  • Medical Forms
  • Proof of Academic Qualifications

PPA Cover Teachers are committed to child protection and safer recruitment in education so we have strict recruitment vetting and safeguarding measures that we apply to all our teachers before they are allocated to a school. You can access confirmation of our vetting and safeguarding procedures for our teachers before we send them to your school, along with photo ID and a copy of their DBS for added security.

At least two people are involved in our recruitment process for each teacher and all our management staff have been trained in Safeguarding and hold Safer Recruitment in Education Certificates. Evidence of all vetting and safeguarding checks that we conduct are recorded at our head office.

Why choose us

We work tirelessly to ensure that we deliver an outstanding service for the schools we work with and this has allowed us to become one of the leading education providers in the country. Our methods are focused around the needs and requirements of the school we are working with.

Before the first session, our teacher will have a meeting with your staff to learn about your behaviour policy, housekeeping and how you wish us to register and dismiss the children. PPA Cover Teachers take extra measures to guarantee that our teachers have as much information about your school and pupils as possible, so that they are better equipped to teach.

It is imperative that we establish how each lesson we deliver links with the curriculum, so we will give you our key skills and learning outcomes that detail this. You will receive this well in advance of us delivering sessions at your school, and we provide our own quality resources that utilise the latest technology, ensuring that lessons are engaging and challenge pupils to develop their knowledge.

The schools we work with all have access to an online portal where they have a quick and easy way to see all of the information they require. Using the online portal, you can access all of our risk assessments and insurance documents as well as a copy of each staff member’s DBS with a photo attached. You can also access all of the planning documents and see the work that children have produced.
