Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Taught to all EYFS pupils in academic year 2026-27

In EYFS Musical Theatre, children explore Charlie and the Chocolate Factory through song, movement, and imaginative play. Pupils become Oompa-Loompas, golden ticket winners, and other colourful characters, bringing the chocolate factory to life. They will practise using their voices, moving confidently, and working together, creating short, joyful scenes full of energy and imagination.

Shrek

Taught to all EYFS pupils in academic year 2027-28

EYFS Musical Theatre invites children into the world of Shrek the Musical, playing ogres, princesses, and talking animals. Pupils explore the story through acting, singing, and movement, practising listening, following instructions, and performing with confidence. They will create short, lively scenes full of creativity, laughter, and the magic of the show.

Reception Level 
The Lion King

Taught to all EYFS pupils in academic year 2028-29

In Musical Theatre for EYFS, pupils will have the opportunity to develop their confidence and understanding of characterisation and story telling. During The Lion King the pupils will focus on building scenes of a performance and putting them together to create a story. They will learn about the different roles in musical theatre and will learn to play different roles each week. Pupils will use their imagination to think about stage setting and scenery and how they would move around it. This will culminate in 11 scenes being joined together to have a finished performance of The Lion King.

Reception level 
Aladdin

Taught to all EYFS pupils in academic year 2029-30

In this course written for reception pupils, the children will have the further chance to explore their creativity in the well loved Musical Aladdin. Pupils will be able to learn more about the characters they are about to portray and embody different emptions to make the scenes come alive. Using props throughout the 15 scenes, our instructor will have the opportunity to chose which scenes are chosen to be completed based on what they would like to work on with the class.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Taught to all KS1 pupils in academic year 2026-27

Musical theatre helps pupils build confidence and develop speaking and reading skills. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, they will create and perform scenes, learning to move smoothly between parts of the story. Pupils will explore leading and supporting roles and discover how every performer contributes to the audience’s experience. They will use their imagination in setting the scene and planning movement. This will result in 15 scenes coming together as a complete performance.

Shrek

Taught to all KS1 pupils in academic year 2027-28

Musical Theatre in Key Stage 1 focuses on nurturing confidence and encouraging pupils to express themselves through performance. In Shrek the Musical, children will explore storytelling by bringing scenes to life with simple acting, movement, and song. They will learn how to follow basic stage direction, take on different roles, and understand how their part contributes to the whole performance. Pupils will be encouraged to use their imagination when creating characters and exploring the setting, building towards a series of scenes that come together as a fun and engaging final performance.

The Lion King

Taught to all KS1 pupils in academic year 2028-29

Musical Theatre in Keystage 1 is routed in confidence building and help pupils build skills in reading and spoken language. During The Lion King pupils will be focusing on building a performance scene by scene and learning how to transition from one to another. They will learn about leading and supporting roles, but also equally, how everyone in a performance can be seen and how it plays a part in the experience for the audience. Pupils will have creative freedom on how a scene is set and how they move around it. This will culminate in 11 scenes being joined together to have a finished performance of The Lion King.

Aladdin

Taught to all KS1 pupils in academic year 2029-30

In our Aladdin course for Keystage 1 pupils are introduced to their next performance piece. Pupils will learn about auditioning and what you need to do to secure a role as an actor in a real world environment. Pupils will learn how to use a characters backstory to correctly portray a character and use their surroundings as well as the characters dialogue to help them decide how to depict the character in their movements.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Taught to all KS2 pupils in academic year 2026-27

Within this course pupils will builds on confidence and develops their skills in performance, speaking, and collaboration. Through Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, pupils will rehearse and refine scenes, focusing on character development, expression, and clear storytelling. They will learn how to work as an ensemble, understanding the importance of timing, positioning, and supporting others on stage. Pupils will have opportunities to contribute creative ideas for staging and movement, leading to 15 scenes being combined into a polished final performance.

Shrek

Taught to all KS2 pupils in academic year 2027-28

Musical Theatre in Key Stage 2 develops pupils’ performance skills with a greater focus on expression, characterisation, and teamwork. Through Shrek the Musical, pupils will rehearse and shape scenes with increasing independence, exploring how voice, movement, and staging can be used to tell a story effectively. They will gain an understanding of ensemble work, timing, and audience awareness, while contributing their own ideas to enhance each scene. This will lead to a cohesive and entertaining performance where pupils demonstrate confidence and creativity on stage.

The Lion King

Taught to all KS2 pupils in academic year 2028-29

Musical theatre in Keystage 2 helps pupils build skills in reading and spoken language. During The Lion King the pupils will be focusing on building scenes of a performance and learning how to transition from one scene to another. They will learn about leading and supporting roles, but also equally, how everyone in a performance can be seen and how it plays a part in the experience for the audience. Pupils will have creative freedom on how a scene is set and how they move around it. Pupils will look at the different way these scenes have been portrayed through animation, live action animation and on the sage. This course culminates in 11 scenes being joined together to have a finished performance of The Lion King.

Aladdin

Musical Theatre in Key stage 2 has strong links to the literacy curriculum, helping pupils build skills in reading and spoken language. During Aladdin the pupils will be focusing on building scenes of a performance and learning how to transition from one scene to another. They will learn about leading and supporting roles, but also equally how everyone in a performance can be seen and plays a part in the experience for the audience. Pupils will have creative freedom on how a scene is set and how they move around it. This will culminate in 15 scenes being joined together to have a finished performance of Aladdin.
