Ready, Set, Jam!

Hello everyone, it’s Joe here bringing you great news that Class Jam, our brand new, jam-packed (pardon the pun) music course is ready to be rolled out to schools! I’m here to talk about the inspiration behind the course, what to expect and why it’s so exciting!

The idea was actually sparked through our social media. We have been creating various videos and content, including videos that demonstrated different instruments being playing together, to recreate popular songs. We soon realised that we could bring this to life and bring something similar to classrooms, to show children the fun of jamming together and learning valuable musical skills and key musical knowledge.

Class Jam is so exciting as we won’t just be bringing one instrument for classes to learn with and play with, we will be bringing 3 different melodic instruments and an assortment of percussion instruments! This includes bongos, shakers, agogos, claves AND tambourines! The course is available to all children of all abilities, from EYFS to upper KS2, there’s something for everybody. Every single year group will perform a rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as their first Class Jam song and every song will be performed by following a video, each tailored to the ability of the level in which the year group is in. As they progress through the course with each performance, the songs will become slightly more challenging and test the skills that they learn in Class Jam.

In EYFS, children will get familiar with all of the instruments, get comfortable and confident in playing them and build to a single class performance of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. In lower KS1, children will also get confident with their instruments, learn key music skills and knowledge, performing 3 songs along the way; Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, How Far I’ll Go (from Disney’s ‘Moana’) and Let It Go (from Disney’s ‘Frozen’)! In upper KS1, children will learn the same skills and knowledge with more focus on keywords and definitions, they will also perform 3 songs as they progress through Class Jam; Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Ghostbusters (Theme) and Can’t Stop The Feeling (from DreamWorks ‘Trolls’).

In KS2, children will learn a variety of musical skills and knowledge in detail, with focus on keywords and definitions, and they will perform 3 songs in total throughout the course; Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Stand By Me by Ben E. King and Shake It Off by Taylor Swift. If a KS2 class has already been taught Class Jam in a previous year, they will perform Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor instead of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

My favourite song of Class Jam has got to be Can’t Stop The Feeling, as it is the most feel good song there is and it is super fun to perform! The future of Class Jam looks very bright, and it will continue to grow with more songs and more fun. We’ve had so much fun creating this innovative and inspiring course and hope you have so much fun with it too!
