Back to PPA Cover

I’m going to be doing PPA cover in a number of schools starting in September around the West Yorkshire area. As Senior Workshop Leader based in West Yorkshire, the schools that are having me for PPA cover this half-term include a mix of schools that I have been with for one year or more, schools like Woodside Academy, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School (Pudsey) and Holy Trinity Church of England Academy. I’ll also be covering PPA at a new school which is Fieldhead Carr Primary School. I know I’m excited to see the familiar students in their new year group and also meet new faces.

The PPA cover sessions that kicks off the Academic year is iJam. iJam involves the students learning about Music Production which is about putting a song together. Not only do the students have to select the pieces of music that work well together but they also have to learn about notes, chords and the structure of a song. If KS2 students have done Level 1 they will do similar things in higher levels too but linking to specific genres of music like Dance Music or Hip-Hop. Lite versions of these Levels are also taught to KS1. This means that iJam covers the music curriculum for KS1 & KS2. The students will work as a pair, sharing an iPad and will both have a set of our new headphones each so that they can hear every note without having to pass one pair of headphones back and forward.

All Junior Jam Computing courses are written inline with the 2014 curriculum with full planning available.
