New faces and slightly older faces

I’m Pete, the Greater Manchester team leader for Music & Media. After a busy summer full of holiday clubs, we're back in the swing of things a few weeks into the new school term to teach PPA Cover. Returning to some previous classes, and meeting some for the first time, this is always an exciting period of the year.

Firstly back to SS Osmund and Andrew's, meeting the new nursery and reception children, and then seeing some of the same (slightly taller) faces in different classrooms, ready to move on to the next levels of the Junior Jam subjects. The PPA Cover inAutumn half term one is all about music, with the younger children being introduced to music production and song creation, and the older ones learning more advanced techniques and exploring new genres.

Then on to my new schools Broadoak Primary and St. Gregory's, the latter of which is a new addition to the Junior Jam family. The exceptionally bright Year 4s in Broadbank have been learning about different types of dance music, using beat sequencers and dubstep/house/drum 'n' bass music loops to create their own songs. The Year 2s are learning about different genres of music every week, recently greatly enjoying watching and listening to Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry, proceeding then to trying to imitate their musical styles.

The children at St. Gregory's have embraced the Junior Jam PPA Cover carousel of iPads/Music, Sports, and Spanish with great enthusiasm, already informing us of how much they now look forward to their Monday mornings. They always get the week off to a great start and, as a team, we're all looking forward to continuing our lessons with them throughout the next year.
