Training and The New Term

Last week, Katy, Emily, Louis, and I all headed down south to London and the West Midlands for our in-person training. This is such an exciting time because it’s the first time we get to meet most of our new instructors in real life.

On Wednesday morning, we got up early in London to meet some of our London-based instructors. Our instructors had chance to meet each other and ask questions about the courses, their schools, and their equipment.

At Junior Jam, our instructors receive thorough training to make sure they are fully prepared for the new academic year. All instructors are trained in how to deliver every lesson that they will teach. Our staff are also given all the resources they will need including iPads, musical instruments, and sports equipment, as well as all the lesson plans and keynotes they will need.

After we finished our training on Wednesday, we set off again and headed up to Coventry, ready to meet our instructors from the West Midlands the next day. Junior Jam offers a wide range of subjects, so we have lots of staff with different specialisms. We ran several training sessions for music, media, languages, and sport.

It was fantastic meeting all our new staff and great catching up with instructors.

This week, many of our staff start teaching, as schools start back for Autumn term.

Yesterday, I was in Birmingham, team teaching with some of our new staff. At Junior Jam, team teaching is when a new member of staff is accompanied by one of our senior team leaders for their first few lessons. This ensures that our new staff members feel confident and fully equipped in their new positions.

Keep an eye on our blog for updates on another exciting term of Junior Jam.
