Reception
Unit 1:
Numbers

Pupils will learn basic greetings and gain an understanding of the numbers 1-10, so they can use them in a context. They will take part in role-playing activities and a number of games such as bingo.

Unit 2:
Colours

Pupils will continue to practice greetings and numbers and begin to learn the names of colours. They will be able to combine the use of numbers and colours.

Unit 3:
Farm Animals

Pupils will learn to identify and name farm animals whilst also revisiting numbers and colours with an emphasis on accurate pronunciation.

Unit 4:
Fruit

Pupils will learn the names of some fruit. They will play games such as memory and bingo to practise these words and reinforce their learning. They will also begin to combine the use of fruit, numbers and colours and Farm animals.

Unit 5:
I Like and I Don't Like

Pupils will start to give their opinions on the vocabulary that we have already learnt, namely farm animals and fruit, and they will also be introduced to new food vocabulary such as vegetables. They will practise using what they’ve learnt in real-life, role-play situations.

Unit 6:
My Body

Pupils will learn the names of some body parts. They will play games such as memory and bingo to practise these words and reinforce their learning. They will also begin to combine the use of body parts and colours.
